Ethnic identity can be defined as a sense of belonging to a certain nation or ethnic group. Within each nation/ethnic group common elements are shared, usually including history, religion, values etc. Since ethnicity is always unique for a given ethnic group, its attributes can take many forms. Aside from collectively shared memory, language, social/cultural values or religion are traditions ranked among the main attributes involved in the construction of national/ethnic identity according to constructivist approach in cultural anthropology.

That is why we consider traditions (all these attributes) as a cultural heritage of each nation/ethnic group which needs to be recorded, captured and protected.
