Cultural Visit of Lefkara Cancelled
Dear Mission Tradition friends,
following the latest updates from the authorities, which we fully support and comply with, we will cancel the trip to Lefkara indefinitely. We want to thank you for your interest in this event and hope to see you again very soon:)
The skilled tradition of Lefkaritiko has been practiced in the villages of Lefkara for more than 500 years (since Venetian times), it has been passed on from mother to daughter, and it quickly became an important source of revenue for the area. More than that, the trade of linen was an important tool of empowerment and leadership for the female population, as it enabled them to develop entrepreneurship skills. Aside from the local production, the women of Lefkara soon started to travel the world in order to sell their products, which at that time was not very common.
Aside from the crafty traditions we will also explore the culinary ones. Lefkara is renowned for a dish called tava. Made with lamb, potatoes, and spices slowly cooked in a traditional clay pot, it is the perfect comfort food for the chilly days of winter; and we arranged for a tasting at a local tavern.
If you would like to learn more about these beautiful elements of Cypriot culture, join us on the 4th of April, where you will have the opportunity of not only learning and observing, but also of creating a handcrafted souvenir for yourself that you could take home with you.

*The coffee and snacks are free and offered to us by the Municipality of Lefkara for which we thank them for.
**The attendance fee is 17€ and it includes all the activities offered, a portion of Tavas plus the bus fare.
If you do not wish to include the Tavas tasting in your trip for any reason, the price for the ticket is 10€.
***Since we require 25 people for the Tavas tasting, if we do not reach the number, the tasting will be canceled and the money reimbursed. The trip will take place with the above planned activities, minus the tasting.
In order to reserve your spot please register via the link provided in the ticketing section, and prepay your participation fee at our office between 9am – 5pm (27 Ezekia Papaioannou, 1075)
